Legacy Awards 2025 highlight the long-term commitment of those transforming the industry through innovation, growth, and sustainability.

AAPA LATAM's operation in Latin America and the Caribbean is pleased to announce the winners of the Legacy Awards 2025, an initiative that seeks to recognize and showcase the most relevant contributions in port development, sustainability, and human capital across the region.

Created to spotlight projects that leave a lasting impact, the Legacy Awards value not only tangible results but also the social, economic, and environmental impact of initiatives led by terminals, port authorities, and operators.

"Legacy in our industry is built through long-term vision, collective commitment, and constant innovation. These awards were created to honor those transforming realities from the port sector through actions that improve people's lives and strengthen regional competitiveness," said Juan Duarte, Executive President of AAPA LATAM.

Technology and Innovation

Port Development Award – Engineer Valentín Morán

Terminal Internacional del Sur S.A. (TISUR) – Peru

This recognition highlights the technical robustness of the submitted project and the quality of the supporting documentation. The jury especially valued the demonstrated research, clarity of operational indicators, and the strategic approach in the proposal.

Port Performance and Growth

Sustainable Development Award – Agustín Díaz

Portos do Paraná – Brazil

The jury recognized the high impact of the solution presented by Portos do Paraná, highlighting its ability to generate sustainable environmental and social benefits, as well as its replication potential in other regional contexts.

Sustainability and Human Capital

Human Capital Development Award – Armando Duarte Peláez

Porto do Itaqui – Brazil

The project submitted by Porto do Itaqui demonstrated a robust strategy for port human talent development and strengthening. Its measurable impact, strategic partnerships, and model scalability across diverse regional settings were highlighted.

With this initiative, AAPA LATAM reaffirms its commitment to the three core pillars that guide its mission: Competitiveness, Innovation, and Sustainability. The region's future is built today with leadership, vision, and positive impact.

The official Legacy Awards ceremony took place during the AAPA LATAM Congress, June 24-27, 2025 in Lima, Peru. This event brought together industry leaders, government authorities, and strategic stakeholders to share experiences, strengthen ties, and continue driving transformation across the Latin American and Caribbean port system.
